Get Golfing - Super Family Fun!

Paulton’s Golf Centre - Great Family Fun

Whether you’re eight or eighty; golf is a brilliant way to spend time with your loved ones. The sport allows for all family members to partake together and caters to all levels. I love the inclusion aspect of golf as it takes into account your playing level, so everyone has a fair chance.

I think it’s time to get outdoors and onto the golfing greens to fully appreciate what the summer season and indeed the sport has to offer. Disconnecting the Xbox for one Sunday afternoon so that your teen can spend time upping their Vitamin D under a brilliant blue sky will, contrary to their belief, not kill them.

We as a family, did just that and pleasantly surprised our daughter Lily (age 23), that golf can be fun.

Rolling back the years, my Dad was and still is, a keen golfer, and during the summer seasons, we would head to the crazy golf and driving range on a warm summer evening and hit some balls and play a few games of crazy golf. It was super fun, great for all the family and build super memories plus a passion for golf! This is what I aim to create for my family too.

Paulton’s Golf Centre is a family friendly lifestyle golf centre that is perfect for all ages and abilities. The golf centre is in Hampshire, just across from the famous Paulton’s Park. The golf centre is a golfers’ paradise as they offer a variety of memberships and also a pay-and-play opportunities too. So, whether you’re new to golf or working on your single figure handicap, Paulton’s Golf Centre can cater for your every need.

We started our day out on the new refurbished, 18 bay (heated for winter), driving range, with guided expert tuition from PGA golf professional and Director of Golf, David Green. Paulton’s have taken the traditional driving range and upgraded the experience by adding innovative ball-tracking technology by TopTracer. This is super motivating tracking every shot onto the range and watching the improvements over an hour with David’s guided tuition. Lily found this particularly motivating and to see her progress in an hour from a parent’s perspective was heart-warming.

The golf course grounds are beautiful with waterlily filled ponds to rolling hills. The championship course provides sweeping, open fairways delivering a fun and challenging 18 holes. All 18 greens are also built to USGA specification with optimum drainage, so important for UK weather!).

We played the Academy course, which is a 6-hole, par 3 course and we had a super time. This was Lily’s first experience on a golf course and she loved every minute! When the kids are happy, it makes it fun for all. This little gem of a course is perfect if you’re just getting into the game or looking for a fun family day out.

We washed our golf experience down with lunch at the Club House Bar & Restaurant which serves traditional cooked breakfasts and hearty lunches.

Let’s Get Physical

One of the many benefits of participating in sports is that it improves your physical fitness. Golf, specifically, provides moderately intense physical activity, such as walking, carrying your bag, and swinging. This increases your heart rate and blood flow, which results in a healthy heart, enhanced brain stimulation, and improved balance. Spectators and caddies can benefit from golf too!

Research shows that golf spectators take more than 7,500 to 10,000 steps whilst watching a game, which is the daily recommendation for a healthy lifestyle.

Did Somebody Say Weight Loss?

Improved physical fitness also means weight loss. The recommended number of steps for weight loss is about 10,000 steps. Spending 4 to 5 hours playing an 18-hole round will definitely exceed that amount. So, ditch the golf cart and burn away those calories!

Sleep Like a Baby

A combination of exercise and fresh air on a regular basis is the ultimate recipe for a perfect night of sleep. Not only will you fall asleep faster, but you will also stay in deep sleep for longer. Head to the course, embrace the outdoors, and get a fulfilling night’s rest.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

What most people don’t know is that being surrounded by nature, as well as exercise, benefits mental wellbeing. Studies show increased attention and happiness after walking amongst the greenery. This is caused by an increase in levels of endorphins and serotonin in your brain, leading in the reduction of anxiety, as well as improved self-esteem, and confidence. Luckily for golfers, they can surround themselves with nature by spending the day at stunning golf courses at Paulton’s Golf Centre. As people say, a healthy mind results in a healthy body.

Make Friends & Take Meetings Outdoors

Playing golf also has a great social element, allowing people to not only spend time with friends and family but to also meet new players with different skill levels. With enhanced social connections, self-identity, interpersonal skills, and emotional control are boosted to a whole new level.

I hope you’ll give golf a go!
